Company Leadership:
Female Leadership:
Our culture and values are intrinsic to who we are and how we operate; we share ambition, success and the challenges in the work we do. Our colleagues are the authors of AG’s story, and the next page is theirs to write - as culture has no full stop. Our story is about differences and togetherness, we welcome everyone and all the different qualities, experiences and personalities they bring.
Whether through our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programme, wellbeing initiatives or wider Learning and Development programmes, we work hard to create a workplace where people feel as though they belong and can thrive in their careers. We support people to achieve their full potential and always seek smart ways to have a positive impact – one way we have achieved this is in leading the way in creating new pathways for individuals to enter the legal field through our solicitor apprenticeships.
We constantly open ourselves up to new ways of working and collaborate with our clients to re-design and re-invent how we shape responses that meet the needs of our clients in a changing world. Our Innovation and Legal Technology Team blends technology and legal expertise and is fully integrated into our business. We develop, test, invest in and embrace new technology on a continuous basis in enabling the smart delivery of legal services and creation of clever solutions to clients, both faster and more cost-effectively.
Our appetite to learn sees us partnering with technology providers, universities and law schools, collaborating with others and organising hackathons and other initiatives to stimulate creative ideas with the single objective of delivering solutions and services that benefit our clients.
"Technology is a game changer in the legal world. The tools we’re employing are essential as we strive to increase the efficiency and cost efficacy of our work. We have already invested significantly in this area and will continue to do so over the coming months and years as we build a market-leading technology offering as part of our client services. Our approach has already delivered significant measurable benefits for clients, and this is only set to increase as we continue to grow in this area." Kerry Westland, Partner, Head of Innovation and Legal Technology
We are investing in the right clients and markets, developing deeper client relationships to enhance the support we provide. Our clients are some of the world’s most respected brands and organisations and we support them across over 50 areas of business, finding the right solutions to the challenges they are facing.
We are committed to reducing our negative impact on the environment - working towards a net zero goal by measuring and openly reporting on progressively more sustainable consumption practices. We are currently on the path to setting emission reduction targets through the Science Based Targets Initiative – SBTi and have working groups across the business focussing on sustainability at AG
Under the theme of ‘Unlocking Young Potential’, we seek to have a positive impact on the local communities that we work in via AG’s Charitable Trust, additional charity partnerships, and offering work experience schemes and bursaries. Through both volunteering initiatives and pro bono work, our people give their time, energy, and skills to help others.
All of this is underpinned by strong governance – driving us to be transparent and accountable. Our responsible business strategy is sponsored by our Executive team; is managed by a dedicated, specialist team; and is based upon both high professional and ethical standards.
We want you to thrive in your career with us and feel like you belong at Addleshaw Goddard. As such we're focussed on having an inclusive, fair and diverse work culture where everyone can be their authentic selves, to help us be the best we can be, together.
Our partnerships, networks and forums create safe spaces for discussion, education and celebration. Over 1000 colleagues are actively involved – here's a snapshot of what they get up to.
Our Ability Forum supports people with disabilities and those caring for them, creating an environment to share stories and improve understanding. We are members of the Business Disability Forum, who work with us to put disability inclusion at the heart of our business. We're fostering a culture where colleagues feel safe disclosing their disability so that we can make adjustments, such as to physical equipment, working patterns or specialist software.
We were founding members of the Legal Neurodiversity Network and have an award-winning neurodiversity programme. As part of our continued investment into our people, we have partnered with Neurodiversity Uncovered to provide specialist neurodiversity coaching for those that identify as neurodivergent to help unlock potential and maximise performance and development.
Our ethnicity network, AG Embrace, connects colleagues to share insights into their lived experiences, helping to create positive change and a space to celebrate different cultural heritages.
To support ethnically diverse students, we launched the Ethnicity Talent Law initiative so colleagues could share their career stories and give advice.
We are also a founding member of NOTICED and member of the Black Solicitors Network, a not-for-profit organisation that provides training and mentoring.
Equality isn't a women's issue; it's a business issue. And thanks to our investment in this area, the number of our female partners has risen from 20% (2020) to 31% (2023) and we aim to increase this to 38% by 2027. Our collaborative network, The Vine, is a driver for change within the firm, as is our award-winning career development programme, Flourish. We are also signatories of the Women in Finance Charter, demonstrating our commitment to supporting gender balance.
"Flourish gave me renewed excitement about what my future at AG could hold." Andrea Hunter, Managing Associate
We are incredibly proud to have made the Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality 2025 list, evaluated by gender equality experts at Business in the Community. Equality at work has never been so important and we are committed to ensuring all our employees, regardless of gender, can thrive.
Our OpenAG network not only provides a platform for colleagues to share experiences of sexual orientation equality, but it's also been crucial in the development of our Transitioning Policies, Parental and Fertility Policies, LGBTQ+ mentoring programme (the Rainbow Connection) and various allyship guides. We were also founding members of the LGBTQ+ Legal Leaders Programme, a multi-award winning two-day interactive workshop to build leadership skills and create opportunities for career progression.
We have a holistic approach to supporting parents, through fertility treatment, parental leave and returning to work, offering flexible and agile working patterns when they need it the most.
We are particularly proud of our Parental Pods programme which connects colleagues to share their stories and gives them resources to help their experiences as working parents.
We believe everyone should be given opportunities to fulfil their potential regardless of where they were born, the school they went to or their parents' job. So, we launched apprenticeships for solicitors and business services, mentoring and work experience programmes, and a social mobility network. We're pleased to have placed 11th in the 2024 Social Mobility Employer Index rising from 36th in 2023.
We are members of PRIME and are founding signatories of the Aspiring Solicitors' Smart Legal Commitment, which provides financial assistance to aspiring lawyers from socially diverse backgrounds for accommodation, tech and formal clothes.
We have a growing number of faith communities that create spaces for colleagues to embrace their faith and opportunities for those wishing to learn about other customs and traditions.
Supporting you, every step of the way.
