How you can celebrate International Women’s Day?

Beautiful Young Woman Making a Heart Shape Using Her Hands, International Women's Day Inspire Inclusion campaign

ARTICLE SUMMARY

What better time to champion women in tech and join the fight for gender equality, than International Women’s Day?

Celebrated on 8th March, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific.

Below, we’ve pulled together a few ideas on how you and your company can mark the day and beyond.

JOIN SHECANCODE AT OUR IWD POWER HACK ON 28th MARCH

Join us for a day of ideation and coding at our International Women’s Day Power Hack!

To celebrate International Women’s Day, with Simply Business, Checkatrade, Planit Testing, Tech Redefined, and Girls Into Coding. Together, we’re on a mission to #InspireInclusion and help build solutions to close the diversity gap.

At the hackathon, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to build an app, website, or hosted solution that will directly help increase diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

So, what kind of solutions are we looking for? The sky’s the limit! You can develop ideas that help connect mentors with mentees; create accessible workplace design tools; develop anonymous reporting systems; or help with diversity and inclusion training. It’s all about building diversity within businesses and encouraging inclusion.

While this event is free to attend, we do ask for a donation to our charity partner, Girls Into Coding. Girls Into Coding provides girls aged 10 to 14 with unique hands-on experience in physical computing, robotics and coding.
