Dorothea holds a degree in Modern Languages and began her career as a freelance teacher of German, including working with refugees.
After being made redundant she spent eight years in hospitality, working her way through both front of house and professional kitchens as a chef. Driven by a hunger for knowledge and curiosity about what else was out there, she took a leap and completed a free government Skills for Life coding bootcamp. She has been working as a software developer consultant since early 2025, and is currently building new microservices for HMRC.
