Hello, I’m Louise.
After studying History at university, I started my career in tech as a Software Engineering recruiter. Working closely with engineering teams and seeing the products they built inspired me to make a career change and retrain as a software engineer.
After six years recruiting software engineers and selling the products they built, I became one. I taught myself to code through online learning and a self-funded bootcamp before securing a place on a Level 4 BCS Software Engineering apprenticeship, graduating with a Distinction.
Since then, I have progressed from apprentice to mid-level engineer, leading technical initiatives, acting as a Technical Lead on large projects, driving performance improvements, and mentoring other engineers and career changers as they develop their skills.
My commercial background gives me a unique perspective on the relationship between software, revenue and customers and my experience as a career changer helps me make technical concepts more accessible to others.
My hunger to learn and previous career have become one of my greatest strengths as an engineer, and I hope to encourage others to see their own experiences in the same way and pursue a career in technology.
