I am a Senior DevOps Engineer at Finova, specialising in Azure cloud platforms, Kubernetes (AKS), Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and cloud operations.
I started in Applied Mathematics and moved into enterprise cloud engineering. I am also passionate about mentoring and have spoken at Women in Tech events and panel discussions.
How did you land your current role? Was it planned?
My career was not fully planned. After studying Applied Mathematics, I moved into IT after relocating to the UK. I started in web technologies, then progressed into Azure and DevOps through certifications and hands-on experience. I joined Finova as a Junior Azure DevOps Engineer and grew into my current senior role through continuous learning and persistence.
What are the key roles in your field of work, and why did you choose your expertise?
Key roles include DevOps Engineer, AKS Specialist, and Cloud Engineer. I chose this field because I enjoy building automated, reliable, and scalable systems using Azure and Kubernetes.
What are you most proud of in your career, so far?
I am proud of building and supporting AKS platforms, improving automation with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code, and progressing from a junior to a senior role. I am also proud of speaking at Women in Tech events and contributing to the tech community.
What does an average work day look like for you?
I support Azure App Services and AKS platforms, manage CI/CD pipelines, work with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep), and handle production issues. I also use monitoring tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
Challenges and overcoming them
My journey has included both professional and deeply personal challenges. I faced self-doubt early in my career, especially after a career break, and overcame this through continuous learning, hands-on experience, and persistence.
Life has tested my resilience in ways I never anticipated. I navigated the emotional weight of supporting my mother through cancer, while becoming a mother to a premature baby and now managing my own skin cancer diagnosis. Navigating these significant life events, all while continuing to build my career, has shaped my perspective and deepened my determination. These experiences have taught me that true growth often happens in the most challenging chapters, reinforcing my focus and commitment both personally and professionally.
I have also spoken on panels at Women in Tech events and was shortlisted as a finalist for Cloud Professional of the Year 2026 at the Computing in IT Excellence Awards Cloud Excellence Awards 2026 – 2026 Shortlist.
