Tech She Can is a charity dedicated to increasing the number of women working in technology, and they aim to inspire women and girls to study technology careers so they have an equal opportunity to participate in jobs of the future.

With only 27% of women considering a career in technology, develop recognises the importance of investing in children and young people from a young age in order to help bridge the tech skills gap and pipeline issues faced globally today.

In 2022 develop donated £25 per placement to London based Primary School, Cannon Barnett. Through this partnership, we aimed to bridge the socio-economic and gender gaps faced by children in Tower Hamlets by investing in STEM focused toys, platforms, and resources as well as visiting the school to discuss tech careers, and opportunities. We wanted to fuel future talent pipelines and lessen the talent shortages the UK’s STEM industries are facing.

Speaking about the partnership, develop’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, Joey Tait, said, “Since first hearing about Tech She Can develop has been amazed by their enthusiasm, and passion and we’re excited to work with the charity to see the impact on the tech sector directly.”

“Our STEM commitment with Canon Barnett has been an amazing success, and we’re excited to see the influence we make to the industry on a bigger scale.”

Tech She Can’s Co-CEO, Sheridan Ash, added, “We’re incredibly excited to have develop become a strategic partner of Tech She Can.”

“Raising awareness of the opportunities for young girls in the tech industry is key to impacting the industry’s future.”

“Starting conversations and showcasing visible role models to improve the gender balance in tech is crucial.”

“With the support of our strategic partners such as develop, we’re one step closer in reaching our goal.”

The develop team will also become Tech She Can Champions where they will deliver lessons and become role models to children and young people. The aim is to help fuel future talent pipelines and lessen the talent shortages that are hindering the growth of STEM industries.
