I am the Software Engineering Manager for the explore team at Moonpig.
We look after the exploration and recommendations journey for our customers.
I got into technology through learning and enjoying ICT at school, I pursued Computer Science at university and after graduating joined the BBC as a graduate software engineer where I rotated between 4 engineering teams over 4 years.
After being promoted up to Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer then on to Engineering Team Lead at the BBC, I joined Moonpig as a Software Engineering Manager.
Initiatives & Groups I’m involved in:
Cajigo
I have volunteered to speak at various school panel events that Cajigo have hosted. I have also recorded a skills video to share knowledge about getting into coding for the Cajigo app.
Cajigo mentoring
I took part in the 23/24 Cajigo mentoring programme where I was paired up with a female junior software engineer who had retrained to get into the software industry. I continue to have monthly 121s with her to support her in her development within the role. Within the 12 months mentoring her confidence has grown massively.
I have volunteered at numerous Stemettes hackathon events, both with and without Moonpig.
Here I have supported (usually young school children) get to grips with basic coding.
Work experience with Next Tech Girls
I was approached by Next Tech Girls to host work experience students for a week at Moonpig as they wanted to learn more about working in technology. I organised a group of volunteers from Moonpig with different roles and we host the students for a week, showing them what different roles entail and letting them get hands on experience.
Sharing networking events internally
I am keen to make sure that we continue to grown our Women in tech network within Moonpig, so I regular share events & conferences for us to attend (hopefully together). Where needed, I have secured funding for tickets
