Although my BA degree was in English and Creative Writing, while I was working in programme management in an educational charity, I became very interested in data, Salesforce and all things related to technology.
So I started a computer science course in my own time where I learnt the principles of programming, software engineering and SQL. Then I started my first data role in Teach First about 2 years ago where for 10 months I helped alumni team to make sense of their data, identify data quality issues and create data collection strategies. I joined the department of Data and Analytics as a Data Management Analyst in March 2023. I love my role and I enjoy being in the position where I can have a huge impact on the quality of the whole organisation’s data – I created a Data Quality Dashboard with data quality metrics using Power BI and SQL, implemented multiple policies to promote better data management, cleaned alumni address data, created processes to dedupe data using SQL and now I am working on cleaning EDI data.
Alongside my role I also have recently completed a Data Fellowship Apprenticeship which gave me a Level 4 Data Analyst Qualification (with Distinction!) – as part of my portfolio, I worked on data visualisation including time series on Power BI, learned how to query our database with SQL in practice and greatly increased the complexity of my queries, completed logistic and linear regression projects using Python. Now I am in process of studying neural networks which is a challenging but a very interesting task!
