I am Clare.
I am a mother to 2 girls, Eva 9 and Isabelle 6. I am 49 years old. I am currently an SDET (Software Developer Engineer in Test) at Dunelm.
I have been in tech for over 16 years and spent most of that time as a manual tester working at various levels including management. When I joined Dunelm, I decided it was time for me to take back the reins of my career and learn coding. So, for the next 2 years I studied a Javascript – ‘From zero to expert’ course on Udemy, every evening after the girls went to bed. During the day I would get the chance to put many of the concepts I was learning into action. I then gained a promotion to SDET. I then set a new goal to becoming a software engineer and in January this year I completed a 6-week secondment into Software Engineering.
