Before transitioning into tech, I spent five years working in fashion buying for global brands such as ASOS and H&M Group.
From a young age, I dreamed of a career in fashion and I’m proud to say I achieved that, having taken the bold step of leaving college at 18 to pursue a more hands-on, industry-led path over the traditional university route.
Within the fashion industry, I had the privilege of working with incredibly talented teams, formed lifelong friendships and gained invaluable professional experience. Yet over time, I found myself craving a new challenge – one that tapped into my curiosity for how things work, especially in the digital world I’d always kept up to date with as a consumer.
That curiosity led me to enrol in online coding bootcamp SheCodes in November 2023. Within weeks of learning HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript, I was hooked. The way small tweaks in code could create big visual changes sparked a new kind of excitement and I knew I’d found something I wanted to pursue deeply.
Now, as a Web Developer at creative agency Milk & Tweed, I continue to learn every single day. I’ve built several WordPress sites, flexed my front-end skills and pushed myself far beyond what I thought possible just this time last year, let alone back in 2023 when I first started coding. I thrive on hands-on learning and the ever-evolving nature of tech keeps me energised and inspired – here’s to the future!
