Celebrating Women in Engineering Day

Female engineer, International Women in Engineering Day

ARTICLE SUMMARY

What better time to champion diversity and inclusion and shine a spotlight on female engineers, than International Women in Engineering Day?

International Women in Engineering Day celebrates all the amazing work that women engineers across the globe are doing. This year’s theme is #MakeSafetySeen. INWED gives women in engineering around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented, with 2021 figures indicating that in the UK only 16.5% of engineers are women.

Below, we’ve pulled together a few ideas on how you and your company can mark the day and beyond.

Working as an engineer

Over the last few days, we’ve had not one, but two online events, celebrating International Women in Engineering Day! Don’t worry if you missed these, you can watch them on-demand via our YouTube channel.

You can break down the different roles in tech with our ‘Engineer, Programmer & Developers: What’s the Difference?’ session. Darren Benson, VP of Engineering, Ripjar; and Jonathan Fenwick, Partner, Engineering, Capco, reveal the difference between the three roles, in addition to exploring what skills and qualifications are needed for each role and what companies look for when filling these positions.

You can also discover all the opportunities available in tech engineering in our ‘Working as an Engineer in Tech: Taster Session’. This session will give you a broad understanding of what it takes to pursue a career in engineering and offer valuable insights into the tech industry.

If you’re an aspiring engineer, or already work in the sector, hear from professionals who have navigated their way through the field and gained success.
