_nology is an award-winning, diversity-first tech training and talent provider tackling the global digital skills and diversity gaps across the UK and Australia.
Every year we train and place over 100 Software and Cloud Engineers across the UK and Australia, bringing new diverse talent into the sector, which in 2024 were 60% women & non-binary, 71% ethnic minorities, 25% LGBTQIA+, 83% career changers and 47% from non-STEM backgrounds.
Launched in 2018, _nology’s mission is to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create more inclusive, accessible pathways into tech careers. Through our four step ‘Assess, Train, Deploy and Support’ model, we enable individuals to enter the tech industry regardless of their prior education or experience, building diverse local tech talent pipelines to futureproof the tech workforce. Our talent attraction campaigns are designed to appeal to women and underrepresented groups, and we work closely with CSR partners, including The King’s Trust, Resurgo, the Sutton Trust, the National Autistic Society, RFEA, and SheCanCode to reach talent from all walks of life.
Applicants are assessed using competency-based testing that focuses on logic and creative problem-solving, prioritising aptitude and potential over qualifications and experience. As a result, we over index on diversity measures compared with traditional tech hires.
Our intensive, fully funded, and remote training programs run for 8 to 12 weeks and provides in-demand skills in Software and Cloud Engineering, along with industry-recognised certifications. Following their initial training, our engineers receive an 18-month placement with our hiring partners in sectors such as Banking, Finance, Government, Energy, and Retail. Acting as a bridge between the consultant and client, we ensure smooth integration, address any concerns as they arise, and provide continuous upskilling opportunities along with ongoing professional and mentoring support. As a result, we drive retention rates, which are typically low for females in tech, and have achieved a placement-to-permanent conversion rate of 61%.
By funding training and securing employment for our _nologists, we remove financial barriers and provide one of the most inclusive and supportive pathways into tech. Meanwhile, our clients receive a complete and sustainable solution to address skills gaps by creating new, local talent pools, who bring diverse perspectives and transferable skills to their roles and are capable of immediate impact. This approach benefits both individuals and enterprise organisations by safeguarding future skills and investing in emerging talent.
In 2024, we supported over 80 clients, expanded our partnerships with Accenture and EY and began new relationships with Coventry Building Society and Goldman Sachs, increasing our impact across the corporate sector. To date, in the UK, we have placed over 140 engineers and have a 70% repeat business rate.
