For a decade, I immersed myself in the world of criminal justice, convinced it was my destiny.
Armed with a background in criminology, I believed I had found my path. Little did I know, an exciting adventure awaited me beyond the confines of my comfort zone.
Now, in my second mid-weight product role at Citizens Advice, I serve as a Product Manager, dedicated to enhancing case management for our witness services.
Drawing on my unique blend of experience in criminal justice and technology, I am humbled by the opportunity to merge my passions and skills in a meaningful way.
Transitioning into product management was no easy feat. It took me 4 years of perseverance and dedication, but a pivotal moment occurred when I joined the Black Valley community. In less than a year, I found the support and guidance I needed to accelerate my journey.
A mention in the job board channel on Slack led me to the APM program at Moonpig, a turning point in my career. With the unwavering support of mentors who guided me through each stage, I navigated four rounds of interviews. Despite facing over 200 rejections, I persevered, and eventually, I received three offers simultaneously. To the incredible team at Moonpig, I owe a debt of gratitude for shaping the foundation of my new career.
Through rotations and diverse experiences, from spearheading teams to championing cultural and racial awareness. Each opportunity has enriched my knowledge and prepared me for the challenges ahead. My journey isn’t just about personal milestones; it’s about inspiring others to pursue their dreams, even in the face of uncertainty. I encourage anyone hesitant about taking that leap to remember the magic that happens when you dare to step into the unknown.
