With five categories, a shortlist of 100 nominees, and 50 winners to be announced, this year’s awards shine a spotlight on the incredible efforts shaping the future of STEM. SheCanCode are proud to announce that nominations for our STEM Educator Awards are officially open!

The STEM Educator Awards celebrate the outstanding educators shaping the future of women in STEM. They recognise teachers, mentors, and advocates who go above and beyond to inspire girls and women to pursue STEM careers. By highlighting role models and promoting diversity, we honour those making a real impact in classrooms and communities – paving the way for the next generation of women in tech and science.

Award Categories

The 2025 STEM Educator Awards will celebrate 50 exceptional individuals and organisations making a difference in STEM education and diversity. Instead of a single winner, we’ll unveil a list of 10 outstanding winners in each of our five categories, showcasing the breadth of talent and dedication driving change in STEM.

This year, we’re recognising excellence in the following categories:

Inspirational STEM Educators of the Year

Awarded to an exceptional STEM teacher or educator who goes above and beyond in inspiring girls and young women to pursue STEM fields. This individual demonstrates creativity, dedication and a commitment to breaking down gender barriers in STEM education.

This category is open to all educators of any gender, at any level – from primary school to university.

Emerging STEM Educators

Honouring a new or early-career STEM educator who has made a significant impact in their school, college or community. This person is a fresh face in STEM education, bringing innovative ideas and inspiring students to see the potential of a career in STEM.

This category is open to all educators of any gender, at any level – from primary school to university.

Community STEM Champions

Celebrating educators who work with community organisations, not-for-profits, or local initiatives to make STEM accessible to underrepresented groups. This individual dedicates their efforts to widening access and bridging gaps for girls and young women interested in STEM.

This category is open to all genders, including non-binary.

STEM Role Models of the Year

This category honours an educator who not only teaches STEM but also serves as a role model for students, exemplifying leadership, resilience, and passion for diversity in STEM. This individual encourages their students to dream big and break down barriers in STEM.

This category is open to all genders, including non-binary.

Outstanding Not-For-Profits in STEM Education

Honouring a not-for-profit organisation that provides excellent STEM educational resources or programs for young women and girls, making a lasting impact on the future of STEM diversity.
