I’m Arvinder (Arvy) Thandi, a Performance Engineer at Nationwide Building Society.
I transitioned into tech just before turning 40, coming from a non-technical background while balancing my roles as a mum, wife, and professional.
My journey into tech wasn’t straightforward. Entering a male-dominated industry as a career changer meant breaking stereotypes, proving my skills, and navigating complex contract negotiations…all while managing my personal responsibilities. The pressure to succeed could have easily led to burnout, but I realised early on that setting clear boundaries was key.
Beyond my career, I’m passionate about diversity in STEM and have led initiatives to inspire young people especially those from underrepresented communities to explore technology.
