With a background in events management and an unexpected entry into the tech world, Jenni has carved a path from customer service to senior software developer at Auto Trader.
Initially planning a career in the music industry, she pivoted after discovering a passion for problem-solving and technology. What began as a hobby – learning to code – led to a career after pursuing an Apprenticeship.
Since then, she has rapidly progressed through developer roles, achieving senior developer status and stepping into a managerial role in 2024. A passionate advocate for continuous learning and growth, she has overcome challenges around confidence and public speaking through mentoring, workshops, and the internal leadership programs.
Beyond her day-to-day work, she is a dedicated advocate for diversity and inclusion in tech. She’s played key roles in initiatives including the Women in Software Engineering working group and was a long-standing facilitator in Auto Trader’s LGBT+ network. She’s spoken at panels for events such as Reframe: Women in Tech, Digital Her, and Manchester Tech Festival.
As a co-director of Queer in Tech, she helps create community and visibility for LGBT+ professionals through regular events where people come along to share their experiences being queer in the tech industry.
