Test Lead

Their office is in Glasgow city centre and it’s hybrid working (2 days a week in the office) so you need to live within commuting difference.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work in close partnership with product owners, project managers, developers, and business analysts to refine requirements, identify testing needs, and maintain comprehensive test coverage throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Create and update test plans and schedules that align with project objectives and timelines.
• Delegate tasks to test team members and oversee progress to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
• Oversee and coordinate testing activities across various projects, teams, environments, and release cycles.
• Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of test cases, scripts, and data.
• Set up suitable test environments to meet the testing requirements of each project.
• Lead defect triage sessions and ensure effective tracking and resolution of issues.
• Monitor and report on key quality metrics such as defect density, test coverage, and pass/fail rates.
• Champion testing best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the testing team.
• Offer mentorship and technical support to junior testers.
• Perform line management duties for a small team of testers.
• Contribute to release planning and assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Performance Testing, and Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) as needed.

Required skills:

• Proven experience as a Test Lead
• Hands-on experience with manual and/or automated testing in web, mobile, and enterprise applications
• Strong knowledge of testing/QA methods, tools, and processes
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Waterfall, Agile and hybrid delivery methods
• Strong understanding of Risk Based Testing framework
• Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g. JIRA, Zephyr)
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple testing projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of SQL

Desirable:

• Understanding of test automation and performance and security testing tools
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g. Postman)
• Understanding of Product Risk Assessments and how to apply them to a Risk Based Test Approach
• Relevant advanced certifications (e.g. ISTQB Advanced Test Manager) are desirable
