We’re partnering with a venture-backed FinTech start-up that’s redefining how businesses manage international payments and currency conversion. Their mission is to remove hidden fees, manual processes, and outdated broker models – their use of AI is pivotal to their mission and the "how".

The business is now looking to hire a hands-on Senior Java Developer to help scale their platform and shape the next phase of growth.

The Opportunity

You’ll work directly with the founding team to guide technical direction, oversee distributed developers, and play a central role in scaling a platform that’s already transforming the way SMEs handle global payments.

You’ll be joining a small, mission-driven team where autonomy, innovation, and impact are at the heart of everything they do.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and contribute to hands-on development using Java and Spring Boot.
• Oversee and collaborate with a distributed engineering team (based in Eastern Europe).
• Own and evolve the technical architecture across AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Build, enhance, and maintain integrations with FX and payments APIs.
• Work closely with the founders to define technical roadmaps and delivery milestones.
• Ensure engineering excellence through code reviews, best practices, and mentoring.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in Java development, ideally with strong Spring Boot knowledge.
• Proven experience working with Kubernetes and AWS.
• Prior exposure to Currency Cloud APIs or similar payment/FX API integrations is highly desirable.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment with limited structure and high autonomy.
• Able to balance hands-on coding with technical leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
• Experience in FinTech or payments is a major plus.
