As part of our EICC Live series of free public talks, we look forward to welcoming the following speakers, all of whom are leading the way in their areas of expertise in Edinburgh's fast-growing tech industry.

Sharon Moore, MBE | Technical Leader at IBM Travel and Transport 
Sharon Moore, MBE was appointed IBM UK CTO for Public Sector in January 2019. She marries the needs of industry with the potential of technology and breadth of IBM, to transform technical capability into real business results. You will often find her on stage discussing the impact and value of technological advancements.

Sharon is a board member of the CENSIS Innovation Centre. She was honoured with an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours 2018 for services to women in technology based industries, and presented with the 'Inspirational Women in Leadership' award at the inaugural Scotland Women in Technology Awards 2017. She is Deputy Chair of BCSWomen, leads BCSWomen activity in Scotland, and is a board member of Scotland Women in Technology.

Dr Patricia Vargas | Founder Director, Robotics Lab & Associate Professor/Reader in Computer Science & Robotics, School of Mathematical & Computer Sciences, Heriot–Watt University
Dr Patricia A. Vargas is a member of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics Executive Board, and a member of the Higher Education Academy, IEEE Robotics and Automation, and Computational Intelligence Societies plus an exec member of the IEEE Ro-Man Standing Steering Committee. She received her PhD. on Computer Engineering from the University of Campinas, Unicamp (Brazil) in 2005. She was a post-doc at the Centre for Computational Neuroscience and Robotics, University of Sussex (England, UK) for 3 years. Her research interests include but are not restricted to Evolutionary and Bio-inspired Robotics, Swarm Robotics, Computational Neuroscience, Machine Learning, Human–Robot Interaction, Robotethics, Rehabilitation Robotics and Neurorobotics.
